Dr Nathalie MacDermott, a paediatric doctor who believes she was exposed to Covid by a colleague, has been left with nerve pain that makes it difficult for her to walk - and suspected damage to her spinal cord.Dr MacDermott was giving evidence to a group of cross-party MPs alongside other health professionals with long Covid.
Dr Nisreen Alwan, a public health doctor and professor from Southampton with long Covid said the potential number of people affected was "staggering". The Office for National Statistics published experimental statistics looking at how many people might be affected, but drop-outs from the survey meant the stats body couldn't put a firm figure on it.
In the video on the differences in the vaccines, you are still giving a range for Oxford vaccine effectiveness but only one dose level has been approved. Please have credibility and use the data for the approved and used dose. If nothing to hide, use the right data
Nice fear inducing headline. 😂😂😂😂😂
Russian roulette with 1 bullet amongst 6,000,000 chambers.
Absolute nonsense. The fear mongering propaganda is eventually going to backfire
Why not provide vaccination around the clock? You’ll get moist willing or able to do nights and reduce daytime demand. Win-win. r4today COVIDVaccination
I am one of those 1 in 50 😷 In my 10th week with post Covid. It’s a serious issue that no one is taking seriously.
BBC News (UK) ☑️ Young & healthy people have a 1 in 6 chance of dying from Coronavirus. This gets worse if more than one person is in the support bubble.
russian roulette is vaccination of all over 80s and the under 50s 62 % population no date for vaccination but work and move around and going have pay for this not 90 year old !
Seems the number with long Covid is unknown and could be anything upwards from zero. Judging by the very unconvincing accounts in MSN I remain agnostic about its existence. But Shocking - no disgusting headline. BBC seem to have policy to make people mentally ill.
Mình là 1 người hòa đồng, ko đẹp nhưng đc cái là hay cười. Khá đơn giản.
Quick & dead seem more 'Russian Roulette' that long covid. While unpleasantness is what they get; they may want to review the theory of catching it; even infecting others. As if it affects the lungs maybe long term is lung cancer; only time will tell; maybe not testing the theory
LaylaMoran 1 in 6 chance of death? That IFR has gone through the roof!
After SARS1 in 1 study 27% still ill met mecfs criteria ie fatigue, post exertional malaise + symptoms of pain, insomnia, dysautonomia, flulike, muscle ache etc Its tragic mecfs community’s warnings covid wd trigger illness in minority= ignored early on & mecfs = excluded now
BBCNews has long covidrivel. It is like watching a fish slowly die when it is gasping for air out of water. Its painful to watch the BBC flapping around like this with the inevitable end in death for aunty beeb. 'All gotta die sometime red' 🤣
I smell bu||shit again from the DefundTheBBC
Young, healthy and demented.
Outside Source reporter in Holland says the British variant. Please note its because SA, Denmark & the UK have state of the art Geneom technology then they will find new variants because other countries are either not looking for them or don't have the technology. Fake news BBC
Bollocks
Statistically it’s like Russian roulette if the revolver has one bullet and a few thousand empty chambers
it is only Russian Roulette if people are not washing their nose..such a simple concept.
Wow, sounds like the new fun game the youngsters can play for real, instead of Halo Infinite.
'ZOE Symptom App study estimated about one in 20 had symptoms after eight weeks, falling to one in 50 after three months.' 1 in 50 with long covid overall, will be even less for young people, hardly russian roulette. Misleading, inflammatory article. Sigh.
more like a Dailymail headline - poor and plays into the hand of the conspiracy loonies
Drinking alcohol, playing sports, crossing the road... pretty much everything we do carries some sort of risk - difference is we analyse those risks instead of just using emotive and patronising bs words like 'russian roulette'
Ridiculous scaremongering headline.
Coronavirus 'like a Porton Down crematorium' for the young and healthy
This is because your vaccines do not cure and sometimes kill ....
For an under 40, healthy person the chances of dying OF coronavirus is 0.002%. Not exactly Russian roulette.
Just stop going on about it we all know it’s bad and all of our life is shit at the minute BBC keep going on about isn’t helping
Long covid ...? Sounds a bit like post viral fatigue to me
Sounds a lot like dysautonomia.
Russian roulette😂😂😂
Monger that fear.
What a complete load of rubbish, putting crap information out like this doesn’t help.
It really isn’t, how dare you scaremonger like this. What are you aiming to get out of it. DefundTheBBC
Irresponsible BBC
Older people play with rounds in the revolver.
FEAR FEAR FEAR!! Give it a rest and try doing some actual journalism for once!
Is it bollocks
“An estimated 5-10% of patients remain ill two months after being infected” What does that actually mean? Ahow many of the population is catching the virus? how many of those actually contract the virus? This info is missing from the report
I am suffering with Long Covid after contracting Covid whilst redeployed to wards with positive patients. It is now 8 months. I get breathless on the slightest exertion, headaches, palpitations, fatigue & memory, concentration & cognitive difficulties
in most African countries, there are far fewer cases than in Europe. That is a reality
Gentlemen, someone has to tell the truth about the coronavirus. No conspiracy theory, no no, it's not that !!!!
