Bethany Fanthom says restrictions have left her feeling isolated as she adapts to motherhood.

A new mum who is deaf blind and has barely left her home with her baby during lockdown wants more support for disabled people's mental health. She says Covid restrictions have cut off most of her support and leave her feeling isolated as she adapts to motherhood.

While she lives with her fiancé, his work keeps him away from the home most of the day. Motherhood, she said, had left her feeling alone, with no one to speak to in a similar situation. She added she "wouldn't know where to start" with meeting other young mums or deaf blind parents online. "It really knocked her confidence. She didn't know what to do and panicked - she hasn't gone out alone since."Ms Fanthom said she has struggled with her mental health in lockdown, with parenting and her disability causing her to feel lonelyMs Fanthom said: "I have constant worry, I'm very worried about the virus. My mental health did get worse with the unknown, people dying around us.

"Many disabled people were already experiencing high levels of social isolation and loneliness before the pandemic, and the last year has made the situation much worse, raising fears of a mental health crisis," the charity's chief executive, Richard Kramer, said. The new mum has had to rely on her family for support looking after Freddie, but she hopes once lockdown ends, other networks will open up.

Obviously

She’s blind and deaf. How can she look after her child when she won’t be able to hear or see it cry? This seems very irresponsible on her and her partners part.

Some naughty boys caught without their masks on indoors in an enclosed area.

Must be so difficult for new parents. Hopefully not long now but the support is there again

isolated with dad; possible why had a baby. Surely they understood what's involved as managed to have sex. Not a surrogate; so now want someone else to look after child; give up benefit; give the child for adoption as unfit mother; since they don't want to look after it. no sex.

Giving birth is taking children hostage with the full strength of Stockholm syndrome. We had no choice to come into this world or not. A natural parent is not very different from a desperate person stealing a baby. Stop having children to save your boring or poor lives.

I owe you an apology to ever doubt your sincerity and professionalism. It’s was just like a dream to me when I received my first payment. After my second payment it became a reality now after several payments it has become a way of life. SamuelEddy_

sorry, but if you have a disability kind of selfish to get a child anyway, if you cant take care of a child 24/7

Soo she can have a partner, she can have sex, she can get pregnant, she can give birth... I'm sure she has it to not moan now.

Probably wasn’t the best idea to have a child was it.

Mum says hay¿
