One local group has slammed the 'disrespectful' actions that have now blocked a main route into the local spot.
Friends of Grange Park and Brockholes Wood recently relaunched group activities including litter picking. On Sunday one volunteer litter picker came across the 'shocking' amount of concrete rubble left in the middle of the footpath.Chair of the group, Jacki Clegg, says despite only being chair since January 2023, she says she's already come across reports of various rubbish being left on the site. However, she adds that no other instances of littering have been of this scale.
"There's been abandoned burnt out bikes and other such things being dumped around the park," she said. "We walk the park frequently and we've noticed things since we've reformed the Friends group- there's things like microwaves and all sorts of bits and pieces like push bikes."It makes me very cross to see this happening, people don't respect an open area used by members of the public- it's the disrespect of a public space.
