“Jewellery is my favourite topic to talk about,” Noura Sakkijha, co-founder and CEO of Mejuri, tells British, practically fizzing with excitement about her affordable fine jewellery brand. A third-generation jeweller, sourcing rare and exquisite stones is in Sakkijha’s blood. What’s different about the Jordanian businesswoman’s brand, in comparison to the Middle Eastern craftsmanship explored by her predecessors, is her ethos.
“We shouldn’t save the joy of wearing fine jewellery for special occasions,” asserts Sakkijha. “Everyday should be happy!” Rather than buying dispensable costume pieces, Sakkijha believes women should buy beautiful tokens to wear always and keep forever. “Jewellery is an expression of who we are,” she says. “I design products that become a part of a customer and truly last.
