Liz Truss,Book,Factional Warfare

Liz Truss, known as the PopCon queen, is set to release her new book, causing concern among Rishi Sunak's supporters who fear it will ignite a new round of factional warfare. Some of the book's claims have already been leaked, including the revelation that the Queen advised Truss to pace herself after taking office. This has led to Downing Street once again dealing with the influence of past prime ministers, as Sunak's predecessors break tradition and voice their opinions immediately. Boris Johnson recently criticized Sunak's proposed smoking ban during a speaking event in Canada.

The PopCon queen is about to release her new book - and Rishi Sunak ’s supporters fear a new round of factional warfare Liz Truss at the CPAC 2024 conservative conference at the Gaylord Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, USA, in February some of its claims have already gone public

It means that Downing Street is once again having to live with the ghosts of prime minister’s past, as Sunak’s predecessors decide to buck tradition and make their voices heard straight away. Boris Johnson offered an amuse bouche this week when he used a speaking event in Canada to describe Rishi Sunak’s proposed smoking ban as “absolutely nuts”.

It means that while it’s hard to even find supporters of Truss’s who believe she is the right messenger, her views and ideas could yet find relevance on the Tory side. As one Cabinet minister puts it: “PersonallyDespite the title suggesting her tome is a foreign affairs opus, the book is largely personal and an account of Truss’s long climb to the top of government and then her abrupt fall from grace.

The bigger question for the Tory party is whether it embraces the idea, which she articulated recently at the launch of her new outfit that, effectively, some currently in the party don’t belong there. That they are too interested in being invited to dinner parties in north London than changing the country in the right way.
