Liz Truss believes cutting taxes for businesses and the wealthy will see a 'trickle down' for the rest of society - but in reality this view isn't necessarily partisan. Sky's BethRigby gives her analysis 👇

on the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building, she made it very clear that she was comfortable with pro-growth policies taking precedent above all else.

Her argument is that the public cares more about better services, better jobs, better infrastructure than they do about fairness of equality in how the state taxes its citizens and businesses. "What I'm saying is that by keeping taxes low and growing the economy, we will get more tax revenue in, and actually, that will succeed in the long term, in bringing the opportunities that people want to see."Ideological lines of red versus blue spelt out clearly by the prime minister, but in reality this view isn't necessarily partisan.

BethRigby She's like Baldrick in Blackadder 'I've got a cunning plan, let's ruin this country beyond repair so when Labour take over in the next election they can't fix it, then we can take the seat again after 4 years of pointing fingers saying they caused the mess we created.' ToriesOut

BethRigby No. It means the rich man will keep hold of his money and invest it somewhere else. You are deluded if you think he will give you a pay rise. Particularly British business men.

BethRigby Not sure it’s worked the other way so give it a go . Sink or swim

BethRigby Trickle down economics doesn't work, they have known this FACT for decades. This is a robbery.

BethRigby And so the Tory cult continues.

BethRigby It never, ever works. Ever. It's the economic equivalent of giving crumbs of the rich mans dinner table

BethRigby So the poor just have to wait for the small drops to come down

BethRigby The wealthy don't pay tax anyway. They have money, they have ways to avoid it . Therefore cutting tax on them won't help at all. But the c*nt allrady knows that ....😅

BethRigby Trickle down economics doesn’t work, that’s been proven over the last decade! Seriously we are in this mess because it that thought process, the only people who got far wealthier during the pandemic were those super wealthy already, those who always get rich when so many suffer!

BethRigby Liz Truss looks to cash in from backhander from the wealthy for tax cuts before quitting politics at the next election. The Conservative Party is corrupt and stealing from the nation.

BethRigby I think her days as PM are numbered already.

BethRigby So as soon as she’s in she’s making sure she and her cronies not only keeptheir wealth but get more. Just One more pig at the trough

BethRigby Trickle down hasn’t worked ever. But dammit, the wealthy need one more ivory backscratcher, and the little nobodies at the bottom need to break their backs and wallets to make that happen. It’s the same old contemptuous excuse making each time it happens.

BethRigby We’ve tried that endlessly here in the US..trickle down economics fails every time… Republicans in the US love it…it always leads to a greater divide between rich and poor… UK conservatives must say no unless they want to face massive defeat next time voters go to the polls

BethRigby How dare Truss even contemplate such plans without first getting Beff's approval

BethRigby trussliz thinks by giving the RICH a tax cut the wealth will trickle down to the poor shows how much she & the Conservatives are OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY !!!! TORIESOUT TORIESDEVOIDOFSHAME TORIESUNFITTOGOVERN TORYSEWAGEPARTY TORYCORRUPTION TORYCRIMINALS

BethRigby Heard that one before.

BethRigby Didn't work in America, won't work there either.

BethRigby Tory looking after the rich as always people are skint how will this get people to spend money this is just to stop big businesses going under wish they had thought of this during the lockdown 1000s of small businesses wouldn't of gone under

BethRigby The only thing that will trickle down is the dribble from her chin.

BethRigby 6 months she'll be toast..

BethRigby It doesn’t work. That’s why trussliz & KwasiKwarteng are not publishing any analysis from OBR. Scrutiny is unwelcome. Unfortunately, most sane ppl & the markets assume politicians spout utter drivel. Can’t wait for likes of TheIFS to point out “The PM has no clothes”.

BethRigby Trickle down economics is bull💩 and she knows it. Higher taxes on the wealthy and income distribution via a Universal Basic Income would do much more for those at the bottom

BethRigby Study the US who flirted with trickle down economics over the years. It doesn’t work. It penalizes everyone but the rich and they don’t care about anything but their bottom lines.

BethRigby Liz Truss is wrong, trickle down economics doesn’t work, which is why we’re not seeing other countries doing this, but are in fact imposing windfall taxes.

BethRigby Beth has an opinion! Useless it is now to avoid a lockdown and go party no one cares

BethRigby How many businesses cashed in on covid dollars, that were meant to keep the workers working ..
