The building, which was previously a cinema and bingo hall , underwent extensive refurbishment before opening in August 2023. The Carlton is located above a bargain shop and features a stadium-style auditorium. The building's history dates back to 1930 when it first opened as the Carlton Cinema.
After operating as a cinema for several decades, it was converted into a bingo hall and later a social club. The venue closed in 2017 and was put up for sale in 2019
