The holiday period lasts from three to four days depending on the country. Muslims often sacrifice a lamb, goat, cow or other animal and share the meat with friends and neighbours, and with the poor. In the UK, the animal is killed at a slaughterhouse. Before the Eid al-Adha prayer, known as Eid Salah, they prepare spiritually and physically. On the first morning, Muslims around the world attend the mosque for a service that includes communal prayers and a sermon.
