It happened close to the Kempe Stones Roundabout in the town.
Diversions are present at the junction of Old Belfast Road and motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes. A PSNI statement read: "The Newtownards is currently closed in the vicinity of the Kempe Stones Roundabout due to a road traffic collision. Just went past 5 police cars at the roundabout. (One for each off way + one extra). Small red(?) car parked part of roadside damage to front bumper and front light smashed. Motorcycle down further back (green, looked more moped esque) couldn’t see damage to it.
