He joins complaints there is no economic impact assessment of the deal published alongside it, saying the PM"isn't concerned with the economy, the PM isn't concerned with the facts".Sir Oliver Letwin, whose amendment is causing all the controversy this afternoon, says its purpose is to"keep in place the insurance policy provided by the Benn Act which prevents us crashing out automatically if there is no deal in place by 31 October".

"Any good that don't fall within that restricted category, of being proven that they're not going into Northern Ireland or not going into manufacturing, is going to be subject to checks," the former director of public prosecutions says.Anna Soubry, leader of The Independent Group for Change, says that the PM's new proposal for Northern Ireland"isn't a backstop, this is their future essentially in perpetuity".

He accuses his Labour shadow, Sir Keir Starmer, of rejecting a proposal from the cross-party talks that was a copy and paste of Labour's own proposals.
