by the Met Office. Forecasters said snow was likely in parts of the region with their yellow warning for snow covering parts of Wigan, Leigh and Bolton coming into force for 24 hours at midday.
However, those in other areas, including residents in Bolton, Oldham and Ashton-under-Lyne, have reported flurries coming down this morning. The Met Office said that snow showers would "will become more frequent" through the day today with a couple of centimeters possible on lower levels with the potential for between 5cm and 10cm on some higher ground.
An ice warning was also in place covering the entire region earlier. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in many areas as a cold snap hits the UK.
