LIVE: A34 CLOSED as police descend on major road near Manchester

A major road near Greater Manchester has been closed in both directions due to a police incident. Officers are at the scene on the A34 in Handforth, just over the border from Cheadle, this morning .

The Inrix traffic monitoring website has referred to the incident as an 'accident' but details are unconfirmed. Further details about the incident are not yet known.
