The Liberal Democrats took a council seat in a leafy part of the Cotswolds home to David Cameron and Jeremy Clarkson in the local elections.

It was an early scalp in local elections in which the Lib Dems are seeking to make some gains in Tory Blue Wall heartlands. This afternoon the party aid it had pushed the Tories into third place in terms of gains, with 150 Lib Dem councillors elected compared to 144 for the Conservatives.
