Let fat people die to save the NHS money, says BBC's Michael Buerk

Rather than be nasty, we should be encouraging people to help them lose weight and feel good about themselves. It’s terrible to single out a group of people, people smoke, drink, take drugs, eat etc. There needs to be more support for people to get healthy.

Is Michael saying that a persons BMI should decide the amount of money people should pay for their health care?

Unless you’ve got an endocrine problem, or are on certain medications like chlorpromazine which WILL make you gain rapid weight. Then of course some steroid treatments can also result in severe weight gain which is NOT the individuals fault.
