Lawrence Shankland News

Hearts FC,Scotland Football Team,Champions League

The Jambos skipper lost his cool after one game but Steven Naismith's side haven't looked back as 30-goal hero looks to Germany.

Lawrence Shankland ’s mantelpiece is starting to sag after collecting yet another individual award. But there’s still plenty of space left in his wardrobe.

“I got Van Dijk's in the last game which was nice because I played against him when I came on as a sub at Aberdeen. I probably never thought I'd get the chance to play against him again. That was a nice one to get. Shankland said: “When you look at the semi-finals of the Champions League you've got a lot of German defenders and some real big names and talents in there.

He said: “There is always one team who springs a surprise. There is nothing to say it can’t be us. Of course it's exciting to play at a major tournament. It would be an amazing personal achievement to be involved in that and something you dream at as a kid. To play in one would be special.” Shankland has earned his place though after becoming the first Jambo to hit the 30 goal mark since legend John Robertson in 1988. Robbo was in touch to congratulate him after the game and Shankland said: “I’m delighted. A great feeling and a great achievement for a striker to hit 30 in a season and is one I'm proud of.”

“When I got on the bus I thought 'I don't even know what I just said in there'. I don't think I had many pals left either! It was probably the right time, in terms of inside the changing room, for something to be said.
