Fylde MP Mark Menzies says fracking should only be allowed if 50% of residents agree

A Lancashire MP has voiced his frustration over Liz Truss' claims that fracking will only take place in areas where there is "local consent".

Cuadrilla's controversial Preston New Road site sits within Mr Menzies' consituency, and he has told of his belief that fracking should only be allowed to happen if there is a minimum of 50% of residents actively giving consent. The Fylde MP told BBC Radio Lancashire that he is "so frustrated" that a minister was making a statement in Parliament that "if you'd have taken at face value, you'd have thought everything was fine", before adding that work needs to be done to "nail down a very clear definition" of what local consent means.

Asked why Ms Truss wanted to resume fracking “when the science hasn’t changed”, she said: “We will only press ahead with fracking in areas where there is local community support for that and the Business Secretary has been very clear about that. Fracking is carried out perfectly safely in various parts of the world and the Business Secretary will make sure that any fracking that takes place is safe. But it’s very important for me that any fracking has local community consent.

Fracking can only be allowed if 50% of locals agree - Fylde MPTory Fylde MP Mark Menzies wants clarity on what 'local consent' for fracking would mean in practice. Stupid. Fracking done right is a ticket to energy production. 50%? Surely a lot more than that for something that could irreparably damage the local environment? Tell them their fuel bills will be halved and 100% will be on board - fact

Datamining suggests Mark Hamill will voice The Joker in MultiVersusLeaked voice lines for The Joker sound an awful lot like Mark Hamill. That must mean Kevin Conroy will be voicing Batman (if he's in the game) as Mark Hamill once said he'd only voice Joker if Kevin was Batman. Am I right MarkHamill? Well Kevin is already there so... I hope this is true
