A British woman who was detained in Dubai for calling her ex-husband’s new wife a"horse" on Facebook has said the ordeal has been"the most horrendous period of my life".

In her first telephone interview since being told she is allowed to go home, Laleh Shahravesh said she was"overwhelmed and emotional" at being able to return home to see her teenage daughter. The 55-year-old told Sky News:"I am lost for words, I am so happy that I am going to see my gorgeous girl. "Today has been very surreal, I really don't know what's happened, I have been in a daze. I had court this morning."

Ms Shahravesh and her 14-year-old daughter Paris, who live in Richmond, southwest London, were both arrested on arrival in the United Arab Emirates last month. At a court hearing on Thursday, it appeared as though her case was being adjourned, but a charity which represents her has now said it has heard she will be freed.
