Polls makes Vince Cable’s party the favourite for remainers and puts it in first place in London

Senior Labour figures were engaged in a desperate battle to shore up the party’s support on Saturday night, amid warnings that its stance on Brexit was helping to “detoxify the Lib Dems”.

DNewtonC The cost of destructive ambiguity.

Why the surprise? Labour's chief EU policy is technically termed 'fence-sitting' and/or 'we haven't got a Scooby Doo about what to do'

So you didn’t look at the poll in your own article for the election that counts, Lib Dem’s 11% twats

Hmm, if Labour are surprised by this then theyve been more arrogant than I thought.

So Labour is panicking not because it is backing a bad idea, but because this stance has backfired and is helping a political opponent? Hypocrites. Another cr*p example of PartyBeforeCountry

LeavingPlanet So they should.

'Clive Lewis, a shadow Treasury minister, said “lifelong Labour voters” would not back the party this week due to its Brexit stance.' Yep.

Seems the Observer has returned to its Tiny Rowland days; shame

If middle class remainers would so easily switch to pro austerity libdems, they’re not needed by labour.

Labour leadership has consistently assumed they can ultimately take remainer votes for granted in a General Election. To some extent that's true, but they are eroding huge amounts of enthusiasm, loyalty and goodwill along the way. A very dangerous strategy. RemainBacklash

Dream on, all the MSM and BBC are running around like headless chickens trying to put a negative spin on anything that Labour does. Why not cover the stats showing the conservatives haemorrhaging support?

Labour is not panicking enough.

Labour are a Hard Brexit Party and Corbyn couldn't care less about the polls for European Elections as he doesn't want there to be MEPs in the first place. Labour doing badly will just be spun as people want Brexit asap!

Why the ‘panic’? It’s been happening for over a year. You’re commentating on last year’s Grand National. The horse has bolted. UKLabour under shitjesus and the shady Milne are deliberately, staggeringly, stubbornly IMPOTENT LibDemsNow LibDems LibDemSurge 🔶☀️🌼🐝🇬🇧🇪🇺🌍👍🏼

Is there a 2nd ref this week or just the EU elections?

No difference, both parties are the same anyway.

Not really shocking, is it, UKLabour, with a Eurosceptic as leader..

Ah hah hahaha. Better stick with Brexit voters then huh!

Labour panics? I'm a Party member and I have not seen any panicking. The usual suspects telling porkies to a gullible press. Or should that be a rightwing press?

Lib Dem’s one of the first to call for a referendum on EU membership. Their leader, Vince Cable, said there were many potential benefits for leaving the EU. Don’t forget. Yet another political party turning on the voters. They stabbed young people in the back over tuition fees.

Oh, good. They noticed.

Weird how the Labour policy of telling remainers to 'fuck off to the Lib Dems' has led to remainers fucking off to the Lib Dems.

Labour under Corbyn deserve nothing less than humiliating defeat because they've brought it on themselves. Corbyn needs to resign, never mind Theresa May.

What happens when you give voters the same Brexit choices as your opposition.

Too late, everyone has been saying this for a while. If only Comrade Corbyn and his acolytes would listen instead of lecturing.

Corbyn’s ego has destroyed Labor

They could always oppose brexit, clean up and walk into power easily. It's Jezza so they won't take the open goal.

Because they want to remain. 🤷‍♀️

Labour blew it. Get over it and look to the General Election.

Well, it took less than I expected for them to realize.

Well done Corbyn. At long last you've achieved something useful in your life. You've detoxified the Lib Dems.

'Panic'

XxTroll69xX

Why are UKLabour surprised.

What else would they expect?

Corbyn has got to go.

Voting for Farage is voting for Trump. Both want old fashioned nationalism, trade wars, war threats, private health, no welfare state. The EU is peace, prosperity. liberal values, our freedom of movement, benefits for the needy, environmental protection, workers rights -and more.

The idea I should vote far left to keep out the far right is ridiculous

Labour has misjudged Brexit and alienated many of its loyal following. I’ve only ever voted Labour but I won’t be on Thursday. The Green Party will get my vote.

DavidCloke With good reason!

Time to change the leader for...a real leader...and not someone for Seamus Milne to hide behind!

We have been saying to Labour this will happen. They shouldn't really be that surprised. Get out and vote ...

This has taken a long time to sink in, and for most postal voters it's too bloody late!

They are supposed to be the opposition FFS. You see the Tories driving off a cliff with a boot full of explosives, try getting as far away as possible

It’ll have zero impact on Corbyn, his personal agenda comes first.

And how the fascists rejoiced
