Rosena Allin-Khan, the former shadow minister for sport, has thrown her hat in the ring to run for deputy leader of the Labour Party

"It is vital that we restore trust in the Labour Party across the country. It is clear that people did not trust us - we need to accept this fact, evaluate it, and learn from it in order to move forward. We cannot put words into people's mouths. Our path back to power involves listening with humility to those former Labour voters who have abandoned the party.

"I believe my life experience means I can help our movement do this. As a doctor, I cannot guess or assume what is wrong with a patient - I have to listen to their symptoms and investigate the root causes - this is what we must do as a party, and is what I will do as deputy leader."Dr Allin-Khan was shadow minister for sport in 2016, drawing on her experience as an amateur boxer, but is not currently in the shadow cabinet.

She has been critical in the past of Jeremy Corbyn's position on Brexit, urging him early last year to be"the leading voice" on a second referendum. Labour leadership candidates include Keir Starmer, Clive Lewis, Jess Philips, Lisa Nandy, Emily Thornberry and Rebecca Long-Bailey.rules and timetable for the deputy leadership contestMrs Rayner, who said she will back Ms Long-Bailey, her friend and flatmate, launched her campaign saying:"We must rethink and renew our purpose and how we convince the people to share it.

Who?..She must have paid her £25!..

Mad as a box of frogs

She's our MP and totally useless, gets others to respond to emails several weeks after sending, doesn't deal with the homeless problem we have in Tooting etc. Useless

Who is she?

I wonder why there are so few men entering the leadership contests?
