The steering committee at the head of left-wing group Momentum has unanimously voted to back Rebecca Long Bailey in the Labour leadership race.
They can't learn if they only look inwards

There's a clear strategy here: ensure Labour MPs remain in permanent opposition so they can grumble from the sidelines and collect their salary whilst never actually getting to enact policy and then be held accountable to the public Nice work if you can get it

I currently favour the same candidates as them, but they really should let the membership choose the candidate. After all, the members may have to live with the choice.

I understood Momentum to be a grassroots organisation. It isn't very grassroots to tell your members who to vote for - and then have a ballot!
No offence to RLB, but I'm backing someone much more viable - Keir Starmer.

First rule of being electable: Whatever Momentum want, do the opposite.

great idea! Continue with the same approach that caused the worst result in 84 years. As outlined in the guardian opinion today labour are abandoning the midlands & north & focussing on where they are already strong? We need a REAL labour party in opposition not these clowns

Momentum live in cloud cuckoo land if they think Long Bailey is electable. Starmer will find it difficult to woo enough voters back within 1 election for Lab to win. RLB has no chance.
We don’t want another hard left Momentum ‘leader’ who will be unelectable and who will put Labour in the wilderness for 20 years.
