A woman has revealed how she endured 10 years of abuse by a serial rapist who lured her into a relationship when she was 15 years old and he was in his 40s.
Avis would subject Jade to a campaign of physical violence and abuse throughout their relationship and went on to rape her at his house known as the 'Wolves Den'. 'It was almost like he was a local sort of celebrity, he was invited to award ceremonies, he was constantly in the press for some reason or another,' Jade said.
Jade said: 'He came to visit me one night, and he was just acting quite erratically, and he was upset about something. One night the violence got worse and he smacked her head off a headboard and started punching her. He then stabbed himself in the leg to blame it on Jade. She said: 'I didn't have any friends or people that were supporting me. But I knew at that point that I had to do that, there was no other option.
There were reported sightings of Avis all over the California coast in the days following his disappearance Avis's eldest son, who was with him the US, reported him missing. But after a three-day search, it became clear the drowning was a hoax and a serial rapist was on the loose. The man, who said his name was Cameron MacGregor, spent about $3,000 at the stall, which was run by a woman called Angie.Angie got to know the man better and she said he looked rough around the edges but always had plenty of cash.
Angie no longer believed Cameron MacGregor was who he said he was so she took a picture of his car license plates.Angie said she then got a call from the US Marshals, a government agency that hunts fugitives across state lines. When he was arrested, Avis had over $50,000 in cash, plus gold coins. He also had a brand new van he'd bought in the US.
