Kilmarnock's bid for a first Scottish Cup semi-final in 27 years was brought to an end in disappointing fashion as they bowed out thanks to a 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
Killie answered back before the break with a goal that their play had deserved when Kyle Vassell showed tricky feet out wide and teed up Danny Armstrong but the visitors never threatened a second and Aberdeen all but sealed a semi-final spot on 66 minutes as McGrath doubled his tally with the aid of a Stuart Findlay deflection as the visitors exited the cup.
The visitors struggled to create much despite enjoying plenty of possession in the opposition half with skipper Vassell's neat control and turn in the box resulting in the striker blazing over with their first attempt on goal while Liam Donnelly should have done better from close range as he bundled an effort from a corner-kick wide.
