Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group announced the return of Edwards on Tuesday as their new CEO of Football.the Anfield club are closing in on securing ex-Bournemouth chief Richard Hughes as their new sporting director.The duo’s first port of call will be to replace Klopp as manager after he announced his imminent departure in January.
Edwards was previously at Liverpool between 2011 and 2022 and has been credited with the signings of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson among many players who have developed into superstars at Anfield.“You’ve got to think that right now, being able to continue at the same level would be a success for Liverpool, Edwards and Hughes.
“Keeping the stability behind the scenes will be key. I’m sure Edwards will have a big say in who the successor to Klopp will be, and there’s no reason why that machine can’t keep working.”
