Keir Starmer’s aide warns: Labour has lost touch with target voters

Millions of voters who Labour must win back if it is to regain power are unclear what the party stands for, according to an internal analysis by Keir Starmer’s new strategist., who has been appointed director of strategy in a shake-up of the leader’s inner circle, briefed Starmer, shadow ministers and MPs on stark internal polling and findings from focus groups days before the summer recess.

Starmer needs to concentrate on the younger voters and those of us who know that Brexit is rapidly taking us to a terrible place to be. Ignore the leave voting switchers, the Tories are welcome to them. Work with other parties as an alliance to kick said Tories out. We need PR.

Labour is a social justice cult to core and is unlikely to be competitive in another General Election this decade - if ever! A strong alternative centrist Liberal party is needed (don't confuse that with the current version of the liberal democrats)!

'Some in Starmer’s team believe the party is still suffering damage from the Corbyn era, which ended with the 2019 defeat. Many of those who deserted, in what were previously solid Labour seats, have yet to “get to know” Starmer, say MPs.' FFS. Seriously, what's the point?

Isn't the problem the actual notion of 'target voters'? If the last general election showed us anything, it was that there are few traditional Labour voters any more. Starmer has to offer something that people can believe in and aspire to, whatever their political persuasion.

Labour has lost touch with pretty much everything over the last 15+ years. Every new Tory government is worse than the one before, but Labour seems to be busier fighting itself and serving nothing burgers to the public rather than offering an attractive alternative to Tory rule.
