Keir Starmer has piled more pressure on Boris Johnson over his refusal to implement a national “circuit breaker” lockdown in England, confronting the prime minister about why he ignored top scientific advisers who urged him to impose the measure.

This is stupid now. Initial lockdown was needed to get our ducks in row, prepare for it, study the virus etc but this constant lockdown is horrible. Shd we stay shut forever?
A second lockdown would no doubt reduce deaths from Covid. But what would it do to deaths caused by undiagnosed cancer; by isolation and loneliness amongst the elderly; by a decimated economy, wrecked livelihoods and a crashed NHS? Starmer's political opportunism knows no bounds.
