This will be the second year that Kate is hosting the service for membesr of the royal family and the ‘inspirational guests’ invited. In honour of the Queen, Kate will pay homage to the values of duty, empathy, faith, service, kindness, compassion that she embodied.
According to Kensington palace, ‘the service will see the world-renowned Westminster Abbey choir perform some of the nation’s most beloved carols, including ‘O Come, All Ye Faithful’, which was selected through a public poll last week. The carols will sit alongside musical performances by guests including Craig David, Alexis French and Samantha Barks, and a special duet from Alfie Boe and Melanie C.
Attendees can expect a combination of ‘traditional and modern elements’ – so, Silent Night with a smattering of Mariah Carey? Truly, something for everybody.The IRL event will take place at Westminster Abbey on the 15 December and will be televised on ITV1 on Christmas Eve at 7pm. If you’re out getting your Christmas frolics on, you’ll be able to watch it on catch up on ITVX.
‘Running in tandem with the service at the Abbey, a family of ‘Together at Christmas’ community carol services will be taking place around the UK across December to celebrate local heroes. Hosted by Lord Lieutenants, and supported by The Royal Foundation, these events will be tailored to their local communities whilst also including elements of the Westminster Abbey service. Guests will also receive a special foreword written by the Princess of Wales,’ says the Palace.
