Hot off his appearance in the Emmy award-winning cast of The Crown, Daniels stars as Walter Sampson, the older brother of Sheldon Sampson/The Utopian (Josh Duhamel).Sheldon becomes the leader of a close-knit team of heroes known as the Union of Justice after a mysterious quest in the 1930s grants them superhuman abilities.

However, by the end of the first season’s jaw-dropping finale, Sheldon’s brother Walter is revealed to be a sinister puppet master who framed Skyfox and has been manipulating his family the entire time.Recalling his initial casting to Digital Spy, Daniels revealed he first learned he had landed the series whilst filming The Crown in the middle of a field with little to no phone reception.
Unable to download the scripts for the series, the actor was instead able to buy Millar and Frank Quitely’s original comic book collection thanks to his 3G connection on his Kindle.He explained: “I sat in my trailer in this field, and read for hours that entire world. After chastising his son for breaking the Union’s Code not to kill, the heroes later discover that the adversary they took down was actually a clone of the original Blackstar.Although Walter manages to convince his team that the defected Union member known as Skyfox (Matt Lanter) was behind the scheme, the psionic hero is set to become the overarching villain of the whole series.
