Paul Green is subject to a court order banning him from the shop, as well as every branch of Lidl, Tesco and Asda in Merseyside. He also made a bid to steal items including a pair of hair straighteners, but was thwarted by eagle eyed employees.
However, he was then detained by a worker and taken to the security office where he was said to have been "irate" and "in the face" of the staff member. Green subsequently refused to give his name to the police and declined to leave his cell to be interviewed by detectives. He continued: "I've no money. I do it for drugs. Times are very hard. I shouldn't do it. I've been living on the streets. What can I do?"
