John Swinney has said a woman is "an adult female born as a woman" but accepts "transgender women are defined as women".People with 'gender critical' views often say a woman is "an adult female" while pro-trans people say trans women are also women.
Swinney had previously praised a report into trans healthcare which was backed by 'gender critical' campaigners but was criticised by many in the trans community.He told the BBC: "I believe a woman is an adult female born as a woman. And I also accept that transgender women are defined as women." Gray said on Sunday the Scottish Government will reflect on responses to a consultation over plans to ban conversion therapy, but described it as an “important piece of legislation”.
