As the 96th Academy Awards got underway, host Jimmy Kimmel recalled a moment from Oscars history, which saw David Niven's 1974 speech interrupted by a streaker, who ran across the stage. Referencing the moment, Jimmy said that would never happen today.
Eventually, he agreed to go on stage and read the nominees for Best Costume. However, all he was wearing was a pair of Birkenstocks and he had to hold the envelope in front of his private parts. Finally, when it was time to announce the winner, John was seen back on stage in a stunning pink gown. It was then revealed Poor Things had picked up the coveted award.
Jimmy was also slammed for a joke about Robert Downey Jr's past drug use. "This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr's long and illustrious career... well one of the highest points..." he began.
