Tottenham Hotspur have announced former striker Jermain Defoe has returned to the club as a member of the club’s Academy coaching staff.over two spells between 2004 and 2014, scoring 143 goals in 363 appearances – making him the sixth-highest goalscorer in the club’s history.Alongside his new coaching role, Defoe will also take up the position of Club Ambassador which will see him assist with the club’s community projects as well as working with Tottenham’s partners and global fanbase.
After calling time on his career Defoe explained his reasons for the decision via his Instagram page and described his career as ‘blessed.
