This week, 67 Labour peers took out a newspaper advert to attack their leader.

Labour peers are meeting next week to consider a motion of no confidence in Jeremy Corbyn.

On Wednesday, 67 Labour peers took out a newspaper advert to attack their leader and his handling of the anti-semitism crisis engulfing the party. A Labour source said that peers will meet on Monday afternoon to discuss the motion, with a ballot to be held on Tuesday or Wednesday if it is passed.Mr Corbyn has yet to comment on the possible vote but a source ridiculed it saying: ‘It would be both undemocratic and absurd for unelected peers with no mandate to seek to remove an elected leader who twice won the landslide support of Labour’s membership and led Labour to the biggest increase in the party’s vote since 1945.

On Wednesday, dozens of Labour peers took out an advert in the Guardian in which they accused Corbyn of ‘presiding over the most shaming period in Labour’s history.’They said he had failed the leadership test and Labour would not be able to form a credible government because of its failure to tackle anti-semitism within the party.
