Jarvis Cocker decided to pay tribute to a Beatles legend during Pulp's Friday night headline slot at TRNSMT.The enigmatic performer looked every bit like Austin Powers as he rose from the back of the stage against a giant backdrop of the sun to the track I Spy from 1995.Jarvis said: “We are Pulp. You are Glasgow and we are going to spend some time together this evening, ok? This is the furthest north we’ve been ever. Thank you for being here. A concert is boring without audience.
He then started the famous guitar chords to Disco 2000 and the crowd of older and newbie fans bopped away. Jarvis then said: “It’s nice now the sun is about to go down. What’s the festival like then?. Seems like it’s ok. Just trying to see if I recognise anybody.”Jarvis talked about love before playing Something Changed.
He launched into Pink Glove, ahead of the surefire hit Common People, as his set rounded off a perfect first day of TRNSMT. Top news stories today Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here.
