Two men accused of killing Jack Jermy-Doyle in a street attack in Preston had been "drunk and making a nuisance of themselves in a violent and unpleasant way", a court heard.
Yesterday , Michael Hayton KC, prosecuting, said on the evening of August 11 and into the following morning, Jack, 25, and his friend had been out in Preston and were in "good spirits". By contrast, the court was told Parkinson and Jak Fairclough were "behaving in an aggressive way towards others and among themselves."Shortly after 2am, the pair came upon Jack in the Flag Market and violence ensued. Parkinson struck the first blow hitting Jack's body, Mr Hayton KC said.
In the trial, expected to last a week, the jury will be asked to determine whether the men acted together in a joint attack on Jack. Parkinson's case will be that he did not contribute to the injury which led to Jack's death. However the jury will be shown CCTV footage from the night of the attack which Mr Hayton KC says will persuade the jury the men acted together.
