The gendered dimensions of political leadership during the Covid-19 crisis has achieved global proportions, with headlines claiming that women are doing things differently, and with better results. Much of this is assertion, given Vietnam and Georgia, amongst other countries with male leaders, have also seen successful containment. We have also witnessed some pushback against the policy decisions taken by Belgian prime minister Sophie Wilmès.
Women must do more for women
Isnt it her government who is threatening years in jail for reading the Christchurch shooter's manifesto? Not comfortable with any form of thought police
She’s doing her job, why must she do more than that?
Why? She’s doing her job so she why must she do more with other women?
[Woman succeeds at career and successfully runs a country - she must be BETTER. Apply more pressure!] perhaps the guardian should be looking to Donald Trump to do more for women rather than grabbing them by the pussy.
Oh, please! She is doing more for women than any other person simply by holding the position she does and being a huge success.
She doesn’t do much for the environment
Renowned , amongst guardian readers .
How insulting to refer to her as a novelty. She is inspirational. How many Guardian stories called Mandela a novelty, and said it was a shame he didn’t do more for ex Cons like himself.
Wet face
I think she’s the best female politician in the world 💯 she did a remarkable job and kept her country united through a most difficult situations from the terrible terrorizing attacks to the coronavirus crisis 👏 imagine if we do have that kind of leadership here in uk and USA 🤔
“Yes, [woman who accomplished more than ten men in her position] is great, but she must do more.” OK, got it.
I believe she’s no. One politician globally speaking.
I wish we could discuss about our leader at this level...
i think leading by example is all she needs to do
Really!? Why!? Aren’t her presence and professionalism enough? JacindaArdern
kurr.. woził, lumpiącą się szmatkę
kur .. sekretarka najebana
Slow news day?
The sycophantic fawning over this woman is desperate and sickly. The best thing she could do for women is step down. She's not very intelligent, nor of independent mind. Stopping Covid-19 spreading in NZ is hardly anything to shout about, given its geographical location.
Many Asian countries, who are more significant location and trade wise, have done a great job in combating Covid-19. Germany too. But obviously they don't fit Guardian's narrative of portraying NZ PM as the World's Great Saviour.
Rubbish article full of hearsay. Yet another sanctimonious & deluded Susan Sarandon-type looking for more handouts (as if there wasn’t enough) and calling it progressive.
OMG. Worthless article. Did you write any articles about men doing more for men? Nope. Fail.
Fuck sake, I'm a big supporter and a subscriber, but she's doing enough. billmaher talks about how we need to win over the silent majority and this don't help. She's a fucking beacon of hope and should be celebrated
Just so you know, jacindaardern , it appears you have not done enough ( and, because of your gender, commentators can demand more of you than they would of a male leader 🤔). Oh and of course coalition government requires tempering of your approach - isn’t that the point?
It's like saying Shakespeare needs to do more paintings
Why? Isn't her role to govern for all of the country, men and children as well?
She's only 'renowned' for being young, photogenic, a woman, and PM of NZ. Four superficial, surface features which have nothing to do with true greatness and depth of character.
Everybody in power should do more for women, especially black women that society seems to 'forget' about.
All renown will be lost when the second wave of COVID-19 hammers the Kiwis!
Useless text against Jacinda. That is why sometimes I contribute to Guardian but will never subscribe.
Is JacindaArdern in favour of New Zealand having a New Zealander as elected head of state instead of a ridiculous British Queen? 🇬🇧
A leader who unnecessarily destroyed her economy is praised. Just blind stupidity and poor journalism .
You do realise she runs New Zealand not the United Nations right?
