After six long years away from our screens, it’s official - iconic BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey is back for one night only, as the cast reunite this Christmas for the final ever episode. Announcing the news on social media, creators James Corden and Ruth Jones blindsided fans on Friday, when they shared s snap of the final script alongside the caption.
The series, which is set between Billericay, Essex and Barry, South Wales follows the lives of couple Gavin and Stacey, and their eccentric families as they navigate the journey from dating to marriage, finding jobs and even embarking on parenthood! The Voice judge Olly Murs didn’t hold back as he exclaimed: “Nah, I can’t wait 8 months!” Meanwhile Strictly Come Dancing ’s Amy Dowden simply commented: “Yessssssssssssssssss!” Love Island’ s Liam Reardon seemed equally impressed by the announcement, but did make his own request of the show writing: “I’m hoping the episode is going to be at least 6 hours long, anything less than that & I will be upset.”Although the Christmas plot line remains a closely guarded secret, many fans are hoping that the show will finally address the massive cliff-hanger that occurred at the end of the last Christmas special back in 2019.
