Italy has now become much easier to travel to from the UK, so here’s why Rome's Villa Agrippina Gran Melia needs to be top of your list.

I am a history buff at heart, and always need to find an excursion or tour that can breathe some facts and stories into the sights surrounding me. This hotel can offer tours that would be hard to come by for any other holiday. Their fantastic connections and place within the community means you get a private tour of the Vatican Gardens, and an exclusive tour of the sacred Necropolis underneath the city. This maze of ancient rooms houses Roman burials dating to the time before Christ.

I discovered a lot of new things during my time in Rome, which was unexpected considering I have been to Italy a few times before. It’s known as the Eternal City, and I will certainly be eternally grateful to have experienced it in the lap luxury in the heart of the city.
