Have you identified the school that claimed it couldn’t afford toilet roll (a tweet apparently)? I assume it was a verified claim as it was used on national television.

musty74 We need more of this from the Beeb.

They are dealing with deficit by not paying anyone anything to run the services we need, and raking up a debt of £1.8 trillion. They have now borrowed more money than all labour governments put together. When is this shambles of a government going to be seen for what it is.

Meanwhile the real issue is that the current education system would be a pile of absolute garbage no matter how much money it had.

same old tory spin we're putting more money in than before-before 1970

We’ve had Head Teachers across education, having to divert teaching time to continually highlight the severity of the funding issue for too long now. It is an atrocious state of affairs and one the Government need to LISTEN too. Well done Charlie Stayt, you spoke for millions!

Yes well done Charlie. Gibb made an idiot of himself.

Most dedicated teachers today are snowed under by paperwork which has nothing to do with teaching children but everything to do with administration, for its own sake. That leads to short cuts in teaching the basics at primary level.

RealGeoffBarton I preferred NickGibbUK when he was with his brothers singing “Night Fever” and “Staying Alive” - this solo project isn’t working for me.

Minister if you have grown up children that have taken up teaching. You would be really concerned about their long term health. It's an unfair work load. They are so short of funds. No T.A's in a class of 30- 5 yr. olds. Resources bought using their own money. Shame on you,

Nick Gibb failed to correctly answer a grammar question for 11 year olds. In terms of his own education, he went to school and has a degree in law. He is not qualified to do the job.

RealGeoffBarton NickGibbUK The clear policy driver for the DfE: 'there are billion of cumulative surpluses and 300 million cumulative defecits'. That is what they tell themselves and will tell ht if they meet them. The money's in the system, it's poor management. That's what must be challenged.

Charlie as your obviously concerned, how about you and the rest of your BBC colleagues living on tax payers money costing millions per year have a few cut backs so the savings can be spent on more worthwhile causes like education

What’s this NICK GIBB takin about off his kite if he thinks anyone believes what’s he’s spouting seen it for my self ye sandwich short of a picnic man

Even with the budget cuts, schools have so much more than in my day (40 kids per adult) and my parents’ (50) - today is far less with smaller classes & support staff. We made text books last for decades and didn’t have the technology/resources they have today.

He’ll probably get sacked for not following policy for not challenging Tory mps. Humphries, Marr, Robinson could learn from this

It's about time someone started calling this lot out for the liars they are.

Well done Charlie- Excellent interview with schools minister on BBCBreakfast this morning! stephbreakfast comment after the end of the interview was priceless!

As soon as a Government person starts saying 'but we are spending more than ever' you know that the per capita spend is less. Per pupil spending reduced and schools have to do more as funding for things like careers service is cut.

Hold them to account! 👍

Nick has shown in the past that he doesn't like teachers n the education system. He also doesn't really understand how u educate children. A friend of mine took him 2 task a few years ago n wiped the floor with him. Charlie did the same. More ppl need to realise MPs know nought.

If this had been a boxing match it would have been stopped due to the utter battering Nick Gibb was receiving...….he will need counselling now of course !!!

This needs to happen in every interview, no allowing rambling bollocks, and if they don’t answer cut it short

Very interesting

Stupid questions for a minister, if all schools had no bog-roll fair enough, but just one school is an example of poor fiscal management. Also there are thousands of head teachers, ministers can’t keep changing a busy schedule to see one virtue signalling attention seeking lefty.

Nick Glibb.

And I would like to challenge the BBC about their public funding

Give the schools the funding simples teachers are trying to do a job wth there hands tied behind there backs like police NHS an you say it’s schools fault for youth crime your LACK of funding

It would help credibility were it to use a similar tone with other ministers responsible for all public services and Brexit.

Charlie Stayt showing the journalistic skills needed in MANY newsrooms. NickGibbUK showing how dis-interested and dis-connected politicians are.

'Difficult decisions!' He does not give a shit about the consequences of his 'Difficult Decision'

Charlie Stayt is the new Andrew Neil. He pushes and challenges for real answers

Charlie’s a top-notch questioner 👍🏽

Nick Gibb is another out of touch apologist for a regime that doesn't give a fuck about regular folk. Seems to me he'd much rather the masses stay uneducated so as to minimise the risk to the establishment. Just saying like.

As immigration from outside Europe rises, hucksters foment racial hatred | Nick CohenNew research suggests that resentment between groups is growing. Brexit will do little to quell that Aye and Nick Cohen is one of them. The threat from immigration is not the EU but outside. When will the northern Labour Idiots understand this? It cannot have been the intention of Brexit voters to replace EU immigration by non EU immigration. Am I right in experiencing a degree of schadenfreude?

MPs will greatly harm our country if they vote for the PM's 'damage limitation' dealNick Timothy, Theresa May’s former right-hand man, is surely correct when he says that she sees Brexit mainly as a “damage limitation exercise”. It explains so much. May's Cabinet meetings about Brexit Meh. Don’t believe that Theresa May’s heart isn’t in it. She has delighted in pushing for a hard Brexit so she can end freedom of movement. If she was really a Remainer at heart, she would have pushed for a soft Brexit. about the only thing she's ever got right
