‘It’s a step in the right direction’ – Steve Cooper praises Nottingham Forest after draw against Aston VillaSteve Cooper says Nottingham Forest’s performance against Aston Villa was a “step in the right direction” as his team picked up their first league point since August.

Forest played out to a 1-1 draw at the City Ground and moved off the bottom of the Premier League table. Emmanuel Dennis put the home side ahead before Ashley Young levelled the scoreline for the visitors with a wonderful strike from distance. Although Forest didn’t secure all three points, Cooper saw positives from the result and was pleased with the effort his players showed on the night.

He said to Sky Sports: “It’s a step in the right direction. It’s not the ambition to be drawing at home and not having much of the ball but in the circumstances I think we have to accept tonight was a forward step and we should only look on the positives and that will be our focus to keep building.
