The parents of Saffie Roussos, the youngest of the 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena attack, have spoken of their struggle two years on.Her mother Lisa, who was badly injured in the bombing, and father Andrew have also criticised the government compensation scheme, through which they were each offered £5,500.
"It's a complete insult," Mrs Roussos told the BBC's Judith Moritz, speaking in her first broadcast interview. Mrs Roussos is taking part in the Great Manchester Run, planning to walk the 10K route, alongside members of the medical team who have looked after her. She is taking part to support a charity she launched with her husband that will help victims of terrorism.
Good luck on the Manchester run🙏🙏. £5500 the government needs to get a grip just pure disrespect on many levels 😠. The government needs to boost there charity n help with that
RememberSaffie Gosh so tough to see ... can’t even begin to understand how it must be for these wonderful people 💔
RememberSaffie 💔
😪😪😥
Poor girl 😢
this is heartbreaking 😢
💔
Heartbreaking story but is no one else worried by her comments on ‘compensation’!? The government paid compensation due to a criminal act by a terrorist at a concert, and apparently its not enough? I hadn’t realised that you could place a figure on the life of a child... Animals
Good ol ISLAM the EUBBCs best friend
Lovely people, very moving interview
Such a heartbreaking story. How on earth do they manage to go from day to day. ❤️❤️
Words cannot say how sorry I feel for you both.... your loss is heart breaking ❤❤❤❤
BBCRadioManc so sad😧that evil low life has destroyed so many life,s 🤬🤬🤬
Explain why they allowed the BBC to intrude on their grief?Saffie Roussos half explains the BBC interest, but the family, don't they understand the agenda?
A heartbreaking interview. When are we going to call the attack on ManchesterArena what it is ..an Islamic jihad attack. saffieroussos will be forever 8 years old because of our failure to confront islamicjihad and challenge the ideology behind it
Just watched this on BBC news and it was tough to watch. My heart goes out to the parents.
losing a child in any circumstance must be the worst. I feel claustrophobic at just the idea of losing one of my children!!
Brave couple for giving this honest and heartbreaking interview. Can only hope the pain fades while the joyous memories of their daughter stay bright.
Victims of crime are compensated by CIC not on whether they are a little girl or an elderly man, its a purely dispassionate value, that in no way reflects the nature of the crime. The maximum it seems is £11k for death, that's just the way it is.
trulyhappiana this is so sad
BBCRadioManc So very tragic for the family, what a terrible loss coupled with the ladies awful injuries. Can't imagine x
😭🇬🇧🐝💔
No, this wasn't an 'attack' BBC. This was a terrorist attack. Let's call it what it is and stop covering things up.
£5500 what good is that...The price of a life?...Shocking insult to all the families...
💔
Killed by somebody stuck in the 7th century.
Saffiesday
Please support Lisa who is running the Manchester10k
Heartbreaking 😥 A reminder of the evil deluded coward who committed this atrocity & then the courage of her parents 🐝
This is beyond tragic I wouldn’t want to imagine losing a child and having to get up every day and feeling that loss.
So heartbreaking
Heartbreaking
This insane, multicultural experiment is failing & our children are paying the ultimate price.
I’m not going to lie. This interview made me cry 😢
theresa_may
Absolutely heartbreaking 😥💔
And yet the world thinks we should feel for ISIS supporters like shamimabegum and bring her home.. to have a nice house.. nice benefits.. eat nice food... while families have lost children to these terrorist monsters. ManchesterTerrorAttack
Wee darling had her whole life ahead of her, heartbreaking for the families who lost loved ones in this attack.
