Magdalene Laundries victim Mary Cavner to get compensation

For decades thousands of women were forced to work in the Republic of Ireland's Madgalene laundries

She was separated from her siblings and despite only being 11 when she arrived, she received no teaching from the nuns and experienced long-term hunger while working into the night looking after babies, cleaning, working in the laundries and preparing meals for the nuns. The Irish government said 770 former residents of the laundries have so far been awarded more than €29.8m in compensation.

Her face says it all, bless. Better late than never for Mary but it should never have happened & she has a right to feel sad & angry.

NI I’m glad sweet Mary is getting compensation💞 x I’d like to delve into the shameful repulsive Irish history x find those responsible for making so many innocent young lives a misery x name x shame them on a NPOW List: NastyPiecesOfWork.

Another piece of good news against abusers but her life was ruined.

What was it about Irish nuns? I remember hearing a biographical interview with Dave Allen who talked about his experience of nuns. He said that “The Little Sisters of Mercy” should be renamed “The Sisters of Little Mercy.”

it's not enough the scum need to be made to pay for their evil ways.

❤️❤️❤️

NI This poor woman. Disgusting that the state was complicit in supporting this organisation. Cloaked in piety, they recruited sadists and abusers to exert control over the people for power and money while threatening them with damnation. This new secular Ireland is long overdue.

That story is unbelievable, hard to imagine such credulity in modern times.

Yet, none of the abusers have ever been prosecuted.

Disgusting what they did to these women .

Will anything make up for the sheer hell written on this poor woman's face it's a disgusting shameful period In history

'suffer the little children' and 'rock me gently'.... Only 2 of the books I remember the names of on this subject.. i liked them both

£70,000 is nothing to what she went through, and probably most of the girls through the years, the Catholic Church has a lot to answer for.

Good for her . Well deserved

Excellent

I watched a movie about them. Good for her. I don't see how people still trust the Catholic Church.
