Only 38% of Americans would be willing to pay $1 per month to address climate change, according to new polling released Tuesday

. The policy was designed to make up for the government revenue that would be lost as more drivers switched to electric vehicles and stopped paying the gas tax while also encouraging drivers to consider public transit.

Many elected officials—including in the Biden Administration—have tried to get ahead of such concerns by framing their climate policy around easily digestible economic messaging. The relied largely on incentives rather than penalties to reduce emissions. That is, the law gives out money to reduce the cost of everything from renewable energy to electric vehicles to clean household appliances while doing little to raise the costs.

None of this should suggest that government shouldn’t pursue climate policy further and that businesses should stop emissions-reduction programs in their tracks. Indeed, research has shown time and again that action now will protect our economic wellbeing in the future. Anfrom the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, which manages federal budget issues, found that climate change could make U.S. GDP 10% lower than it would be otherwise by the end of the century.

If the actual science was used to make the determination of true climate change, I would. But the current misrepresentation of climate change has got to stop.

Climate change isn’t real. I wouldn’t give a dollar for a phony scam.

japan colonized Korea for 40 years, kept teenage girls as sex slaves, recruited teenagers into suicide planes, and refused to apologize for war crimes such as forced labor. Does Britain support Japan's act of imperialist aggression? Why does Britain cooperate with Japan?

To address the climate change money is not needed. But the mind is. Unfortunately the people who know how to operate this biological organ are in very short supply 😉😂

Indeed

I can't think of one single thing that would address climate change that would only cost a dollar a month.

Climate change is not going to change with taxes or money, money is one of the biggest cause for climate chance, and the longer the consumers are being held accountable and not the producers nothing can and will change

We can do so + things that don't require extra $ 4 ClimateAction. Buying compostables instead of plastic, LED💡instead of florescent, letting your lawn grow natural 4 🐝, supporting green co, switching utilities 2 their cleanenergy prog... Being ClimateAware goes a long way..

But they will spend millions to increase climate change

I'm calling bs on that one

Wait till their homes are ravaged, they will beg for money for repairs.

It would be smart to back off to what people can do . Middle class and up can do a lot more than poorer can. Donating a $1 to what exactly?

Wow. Our shortsightedness is breathtaking

How about we do away with oil jfc this is stupid.

That would $1,504,800,000 a year. Should help!

Climate change must be taken seriously unless we can build homes that can withstand 160^ or the Antarctica. We may have to hire Eskimo’s. Let’s stop using straws and fix this!

Stupidity has no bottom

But I’m willing to pay 1$ a month if that money go straight to the national debt.

Let the planet burn, we need a reset.

Only if in return I get a receipt showing exactly how my $1 is actually helping climate change because most donations people make towards this cause go into some rich assholes bank account.

Climate change warming started 12,000 years ago and is still underway. The $1 per month from hundreds of millions of people would just fill the pockets of the Environmental-Crisis-We're-All-Gonna-Die industry.

That's crazy.

Another indicator that a bulk of Americans do not care about the environment and then would demand federal help when they flooded out.

Well done Americans, not being fooled by the biggest fraud in history.

Some us already do and it doesn’t go to climate change

Shaming their citizens for a dollar while they give BILLIONS to a failed war in Ukraine. Sad!

Now tell them how much more they've been paying at the pump monthly due to the war on fossil fuels. +$50. How do you like them apples

Only the smart ones said no.

Seems like $260 million a month would fund something stuff.

Making obvious the left's green tyranny.

The government needs to be taking less of my money in taxes, not more.

I'm not paying for fraud

There's a climatic upheaval headed our way and like a tsunami at a distance out at sea, it only seems unforeboding. Until suddenly, a tidal wave rises up and crashes into the shoreline and then it's too late! The climate waits for no man!

UnF'Gbelievable?! $12 a Yr?! Why Would U NOT Pay The Buck? I can't comprehend THAT Kind of Denial &/or Disregard?! Quite Sad, really?

Only, now expand this worldwide…

We already pay for it! Come on man! Seriously?! And we pay for other countries too! Get out of here with this! And… we do a better job!

Come on with this. We're not willing to pay because we see who gets rich and makes policies that only impact us while they pollute more. We're not mentally impaired.

Would big oil be willing to stop a bit of price gouging to address climate change? Do tell.

Oh my goodness , shameful $1 per month 38% !

Excellent news , just wonder how many UK citizens would be prepared to pay £0.81p per month to help address climate change ?

Americans... always thinking about destroying and then when it comes to preserving something they no longer want it! The evil of the earth are the Americans. 🇨🇳🇧🇷

Wow, who knew people weren't willing to throw their hard-earned money into a government-run program that likely won't even make a difference.

Let's keep spreading awareness and educating others about the importance of addressing climate change! Every small action counts, and together we can make a difference. 🌍💚

Its literally 1 dollar

I do my share. I buy sunscreen every year so I'm doing my part.

The federal government spends billions of dollars each year on programs and initiatives aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate change.

Because countries like India and China do more harm than any of us yet nobody addresses it. Why should we always foot the bill?

That’s pathetic and sad. We’re doomed.😢
