Many homes suffer from this common issue, but there are a few cost-effective solutions

It's an issue that's incredibly annoying for many households, the washing machine making a dreadful sound that resembles a jumbo jet taking off in the kitchen. The problem is often made worse in smaller homes where there simply isn't space to move the appliance out of the way, causing an ear bashing every time the washing needs doing.

Priced at £18.50, The Steady Spin Washing Machine Anti-Vibration Pad has proved popular on Amazon, with 4.3 stars out of five from more than 2,000 ratings. The pad works by being slipped in the gap between the top of the washer and worktop. It can close gaps of up to 15cm, making it suitable for solving most issues. The product has gone down well with many shoppers who said it solved the problem for them.

Another said: "This is definitely a great invention. The floor in our rented property isn't even so our washing machine was bouncing around everywhere to a point I had to hold it down just to help control it. We tried the anti vibration feet but we couldn't get the feet at the back on as the machine is under a counter, for this reason we didn't try the mat either. This has helped so much that the machine barely moves anymore so I can just let it spin without worrying about it.
