The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) confirmed that almost all of the cases were detected in babied under the age of three months old

Two people have died after a 100-day cough spread through a holiday hotspot popular with Brits. The whooping cough epidemic has swept through Greece, with the National Public Health Organisation confirming the deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has noted that nearly all cases occurred in babies younger than three months, reports the Mirror. The ECDC's Communicable Disease Threats Report highlights increasing instances of the disease in various countries, including Croatia, Norway, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Czechia has experienced a record-breaking surge in pertussis cases this year, with 3,101 reported from January to March, 2024the highest in 60 years. Croatia reported 6,261 cases from January 2023 to March 15, 2024. Symptoms include a runny nose, fever, and sore throat. In January alone, the UK saw an alarming 553 cases, surpassing the total of 858 for all of 2023.
