Friday night's Irish Cup showdown between Glentoran and Linfield has been cast in doubt following a week of wet conditions.
The Irish FA has announced there will be an afternoon pitch inspection to determine whether the semi-final tie will go ahead as scheduled. There has been considerable rain in Belfast over the past number of days, leaving the Oval's playing surface saturated in water. The IFA said: "There will be a pitch inspection tomorrow to determine if the Clearer Water Irish Cup semi-final between Glentoran and Linfield can go ahead as scheduled. The Glens and the Blues are due to meet at The Oval in the first of the semi-finals tomorrow evening , with a 7.45 kick-off.
"However, following the recent inclement weather, an inspection will now take place at the east Belfast ground tomorrow - at 2pm." Friday night's game is the first of two massive Irish Cup semi-finals this weekend. Cliftonville and Larne meet in the second tie on Saturday at Windsor Park. That game has a 5.30pm kick-off.Join Belfast Live’s new Irish League WhatsApp group. Click this link to receive the latest Irish League headlines and breaking news direct to your phone.
