Until her partner suddenly broke up with her on the first day of lockdown. Here, she shares what it's been like battling depression in isolation...

About a year ago, I moved to London for work and started living in rented accommodation. In a city where I hardly knew anyone, I started to feel lonely and isolated. Even though I didn't realise it at the time, I started to spiral into depression, feeling as though I wasn't worthy of company, attention, friendship or love.was under such strain. I knew something wasn't right but I didn't realise how different I'd become.

Towards the end of last year, I found it increasingly difficult to be around my friends and boyfriend despite how lonely I felt, because the idea of socialising and making conversation was overwhelming. I'd get halfway to a social gathering and have to turn back and even left my own birthday celebrations after a couple of hours. I struggled to connect emotionally with my boyfriend because it was just too mentally exhausting.
