'I visited Ibiza's £500 per night A-list hotel and left feeling like a celeb'

We all know Ibiza as the party island of the Med, but if you thought it only offers deep house music, you might be surprised to learn that deep relaxation is also available to visitors if they go looking for it.

Originally a farmhouse that stood tall for over 300 years, Atzaró has been in the hands of the same family for generations. It opened as a hotel in 2004 with only eight rooms, and was swiftly put on the map when Penelope Cruz attended a wedding there that same year. Since then, 18 more bedrooms – a mix of double rooms, suites and superior suites – have been added and other big names like Kate Hudson and Shakira have visited.

See the sights I took a nature walk across the countryside, but there are also cycling routes and a fully stocked gym for fitness lovers. Old Town is a 20-minute taxi ride away where you can experience the more lively side of Ibiza, should you want. I also took a trip 15 minutes down the road to Atzaró Beach, where I set up on a pre-booked sunbed for the day and listened to the waves crash as a team of attentive waiters set about serving me a giant, freshly cooked paella.
