I thought I was a Resident Evil pro until I tried the max-difficulty hell mode hidden in RE4's demo

, you have a random chance of unlocking the mode each time you start a new run of the demo⁠—it's unclear if you have to finish it once to unlock the opportunity. Mad Chainsaw Mode ramps up enemy HP, poise, and aggression while also mixing up their placement, and I hear tell that beloved Chainsaw Guy Dr.

More than anything else though, I think Mad Chainsaw Mode is strong evidence that the RE4 remake's reinvigorating this classic game in some meaningful ways. It's surprising and funny and arcadey; it has the madcap cheesy energy of the original but slots perfectly in with the new game's incredible presentation.

7 times only? I already beat the OG on all difficulty for more than 20 times. Did i beat Mad Chainsaw mode? 8 hours of demo playtime and not a single time i won that mode yet lol. It's amazing and fun, gotta train my knifing skills.

The demo is hard, you can't just rush through enemies anymore, they'll shove you and grab you, the combat feels really weight-y, in a weird way, it reminds me of the corridor fight from Oldboy

That said, they did change some extreme garbage from the original like the 180 pitchfork lock on. But now all axes hit 100% of the time, for example, they literally will curve in mid air and hit you like it's MechCommander 1.

I beat RE4 liek 150 times and own it on every platform and I died the first time on the demo. The combat is bad and the controls are sluggish. You can only melee if you get a headshot, unlike the entire original game. And they need to bring back the laser sight.
