The party is at a fork in the road – if it can harness people’s positivity, it can renew this country, says Labour MP Clive Lewis

I’m standing to be leader of the Labour party for the simple reason that if I don’t, certain necessary truths may go unspoken during the debates of the coming months.

Sounds like another left wing commie looking to destroy the labour party. Will have to carry on voting for the blue team

We heard the truth Thats why Labour got their lowest vote share since 1935

The Tory’s posters are already written for them if he wins. A picture of him looking aggressive with the caption “On your knees bitch!”

Lost the race as soon as you mention not demonising immigrants! Election won by older voters of ALL classes voting for Brexit. Staggering how misinformed many were, likewise immigration was central. Social media is not their thing so votes based on instinct & biased print media.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yet another remainer of the Corbyn class. He'll go far as they say!

So he plans to be silent and let Boris do all the talking 🤔

👏👏👏

😂😂😂

People can be amazing but they can also be the opposite and everything in between. A bit more reality wouldn’t go amiss. We need to get people work together to help each other. Less hyperbole please. I think the words are beginning to lose their meaning I wrote ✍🏼. Won’t they

Living another planet

The truth is, nobody voted for us !!

On your knees, everyone !

He is right: we must appeal to the voters' hearts, stir their souls, with a positive vision of creativity in the face of the climate crisis. And any candidate calling on Raymond Williams gets a tick of approval from me. Very interesting turn of events.

I’ve joined Labour purely to vote in the worst candidate, but there’s increasingly too many to choose from. 💀

So long as it’s not Rent a Gob Jess Philips or the pillock Kinnock.

That was utter drivel

DavidLammy where are you?

One of the local Labour stalwarts from his constituency is probably supporting him too

Labour was in need of a great leadership for a long time.. how to fight Tories cunts if there is no opposition at all! fuckboris

This sounds like a recipe for epic failure.

Clive Lewis joins race to be Labour leader pledging to 'unleash' partyShadow Treasury minister says he wants to go further than Jeremy Corbyn in giving power to Labour members Who? No way, thank you. Love the way all these politicians talk about the truth when most wouldn't know the truth if it slapped them in the face with a wet kipper. Reads like more self-delusion in an echo chamber. No clue.

Andrew Grice: Labour is one bad decision away from rock bottom – Corbyn must stand down nowRather than rushing the post-mortem, it would be better for the party to allow a non-factional temporary replacement to oversee a root-and-branch review They won’t learn. Corbyn was right is trending today.

Wednesday briefing: Starmer sets out Labour leadership pitchLabour must return to ‘broad church’ after’ devastating result’ … ‘Trump derangement syndrome’ … and Ian Wright on the ‘jungle’ and being content Labour should have chosen him to lead months ago. But there needs to be a strong opposition leader against Boris as he tries to destroy the country. He's a Max Headroom tribute act, the EU lackey. It's over for Labour. Sorry Keir you more wooden than Pinnocio, leaders need an element of charisma, someone who the electorate can look to to be PM.
