Matt Hancock's appearance in I'm A Celebrity prompts 1,100 Ofcom complaints

Matt Hancock was voted for by the public to take on a series of trials on the showOfcom has received 1,100 complaints about former health secretary Matt Hancock appearing on the ITV show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!Hancock has said he hopes to raise awareness of his dyslexia campaign while in the Australian jungle. The broadcast regulator received just under 2,000 complaints about the show in total.

While more than half of those were complaints about Hancock's involvement, some of the others were from viewers expressing concerns about how he was being treated by his campmates. In a blog post on its website, Ofcom wrote: "It's worth being aware that under our rules, in principle - and taking into account freedom of expression - there's no ban on any particular person taking part in programmes.

"However, if the mere presence of a person is likely to cause offence, we would expect broadcasters to take steps to mitigate or justify that offence. How they do that editorially, is up to them." Hancock was suspended from the Conservative parliamentary party after it emerged he was taking part in the show.

Hope he actually win's 👏🏻🤣

Don’t hear people complain about witty van tam boris Johnson ..hancocks boss ….then there’s Nicoliar sturgeon Jeanne freeman and Jason leitch ….that sent 3,500elderly people to care homes knowing they had covid

And boy George s million complaints

some people need to get a life.

So rather than just not watching or talking about it over a thousand people have allowed themselves to get sufficiently worked up to make a complaint, generating a news story and more attention for him. Well done, everybody.

Considering he's meant to be a public servant, and certainly no 'celebrity' in the eyes of many (bit like labeling Fred West as a 'celebrity'), what the actual f**k is he on there for 🤷

He's the perfect 'irritant' to the camp! A perfectly good bed goes unused...campmates have back ache. They can't seem to win food without him. I'd say keep him in - up his privileges and watch them moan! BG and Moyles are disappointing beyond belief. They need to go first!

How about Boy George aye?!

He belongs behind bars

🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

yet no complaints about the bullying?

Sad complaining !!! nothing better to do !!!!

I don't watch it. It's boring

Out of 68M people

I'd just like to complain about Matt Hancock, not his appearance on reality tv.

Mission accomplished. He is there to embarrass the conservatives and make them even more unelectable.

Oh well if he goes they will all starveas let’s face it, the others are making an absolute s**t show of winning stars in the trials 🤣 Imaceleb2022 ImACeleb

And?

..really...some folk must have too much time on their hands.....I don't watch it , I don't like the presenters, especially that bloke who crashed his car on the A316 off his head on booze and drugs

All 1100 need to get a GRIP

People have far too much time on their hands.

Best thing to happen to the show in years .

We still paying his salary, pension and expenses out the tax that comes off our salaries?

I speak for the whole of the UK when I say Matt Hancock is the best health secretary we ever had and it was an outrage to see the way he was dealt with after all the good he did for this country.

He is doing great then, the show is getting attention, and a lot of tit.

Only 1,100? I am surprised

There would be more, but they didn't make it.

Love this!!! 1,100 sad wankers who have nothing better to do than write and complain haha brilliant! Get him a regular BBC slot and keep them busy with something to moan about

Why complain, nobody is forcing you to watch this tripe ImACeleb

Some proper weirdos on here are they all Chinese politburo members 🙄

How many were disgusted but didn’t complain!

Money speaks. The better way to 'complain' is probably not to watch this rubbish and remove the revenue that allows the TV company to pay Matt Hancock £400,000.

Matt could not deliver on the expectations of his constituents..Many feel he let them down after he made mistakes during the pandemic and with his marital life..

There's nothing to complain about if you just don't watch that shit.

Would it be OK to say that some jurors are “possibly not impressed by the Racist behaviour towards Black Men” of a White Woman ? “Don’t take a moralistic approach”. Spit the Misogyny Prejudice that permeates the Legal Professionals running the Courts.

'Hancock has said he hopes to raise awareness of his dyslexia campaign while in the Australian jungle.' How's that going for him?

Only 1,100?

He hasn’t grown up yet!

Well yeah, because unlawfully bringing about 1000s of avoidable deaths, giving £billions to party cronies for FA, breaking your own 'guidelines' to cheat on your wife then disappearing from the constituency you're paid to represent for £400k will elicit that kind of reaction.

His wife been busy or are people offended on her behalf 🤔. Because there's no logical reason for anyone else to be complaining

1,100 very sad little individuals with boring lives.

But let me guess , those same 1,100 people voted for him to do all those challenges to give him more air time and get what he wanted.

That's not a huge number.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

'Somebody I don't like is on TV.. better send a complaint'. Get a grip.

Correct Headline: Matt Hancock's appearance in I'm A Celebrity proves 1,100 people are pathetic enough to complain to Ofcom 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

People are being unfair on Matt, so you couldn't say goodbye to a dying parent or go to a loved ones funeral? Lighten up ffs. You'll laugh about it in the future.
